A handcrafted mesquite board featuring texturized live edges, handles on the ends, and a carved out center creating a platter-like board. I followed the natural lines of the live edges with a grinder and dug out the center leaving and uneven surface. I wanted to celebrate purposeful imperfections and create a very unique one-of-a-kind piece. The walls of the "platter" side help hold all your piles of crackers and veggies on the board. And! You can flip the board to use the other side for chopping.
Mesquite is found here in the Sonoran desert and is know for its rugged appearance full of knots, splits, worm holes and bark pockets. Major cracks have been filled in with black resin to bring out the natural black flecks in the grain. Other minor non threatening holes and characteristic features were left raw and open for a gorgeous rugged appearance.
Measurement
L: 22", 28" w/handles
W: 8-9"
Thick: 1"
Finish: This is finished with a food safe sealant made of linseed oil and beeswax.
Care: Hand-wash your handmade wooden board with dish soap and warm water. Wipe dry. Never allow your board to sit in water, aka dishwasher or filled sink. Your beautiful board can split or crack under those conditions. A mixture of white vinegar & baking soda can be used to disinfect and remove smelly odors.
Maintaining: Use a food-safe or mineral oil to polish your board when it starts to look dry. This helps maintain its beautiful finish, prevents cracking and protects the grain against bacteria and helps repel water.
